Of Flowers & Dogs, with a Little Red Beans and Rice for Good Measure

Well, I have finally found a few minutes to post something. As I was playing ball with Windsor and Pablo (Kylie is sleeping in this morning, as she does on Sundays):

I decided to capture some images of the plants that are blooming in the back yard, at the moment.

The first Day lillies to bloom.

Some Frangipani, or Plumeria, as I learned to call it.

Some Easter Lillies. Naturally, they don't bloom at Easter.

I found this recipe for Red Beans and Rice from Nola Cuisine:
http://www.nolacuisine.com/2005/09/19/red-beans-rice-recipe/
I ahve been soaking the beans overnight. So, now I have to run to the market to find some ingredients that I thought I had, but did not. Anyway I will try to post on that later. If I can remember to take some pictures.

Finally, a little game!
Can you find the Chihuahua?

The dog is finally with name

We have decided to call him Pablo. I think that his official name might be Pablo De Santa Nubes De Florida, as he came from Saint Cloud, FL.

Anyway, I will be taking, hopefully this weekend, lots of pictures of him, and of course the other dogs, and getting a better post up.

Have a great day!

Help!

We need some help naming the little guy. Can you submit a name in the comments for consideration?

Thanks!

Our family just got a little bigger!

Well Sammy (Not sure if that name will stay, I am thinking Gomez, or some other Spanish name) came home today.
He is a great little dog. VERY calm and just wants to be held. It will be interesting to see where he winds up in the pecking order around here. He has these HUGE golden eyes.

Here he is with a playmate at the rescue.
I will keep everyone updated.

Doggy Update

Well, no new pup from the pound. [insert frowny face or other applicable emoticon]. The ones that they had are still in quarantine and will most likely go to rescue shelters as they are in too bad of shape to adopt out.

We were told that the ones that had been adoptable, had been taken by other rescue organization s who have foster homes. Looking into that, we found Sammy.

Sammy is adorable. I am going, today, to meet him. Mark will go Monday. We are expecting home visitors any day, now, to make sure our home is appropriate for the little guy. We went through this process with Kylie, so I "know the drill", so to speak. With Kylie, I was indignant. "Well of course our house is good enough for her!" Then, we got her, and I realized that no home could ever be good enough for her. I also understood that they just wanted to make sure that the dog would be going from a bad place to a good place.

Anyway, I just got an email from the foster mom of Sammy inquiring if I was coming today. So, let me get going.

I will take some pics today to post.

Conundrum

Mark and I have been tossing around the idea of adopting a small breed dog. Nothing serious, just talking about it. Deciding not to do it, then deciding to do it, then deciding not to do it. We had finally put the idea to rest when the following happened:

&
http://www.channel10.com/news/specials/popular/article.aspx?s=popular&storyid=53596

Basically, if you don't want to read the news reports, 2 puppy mills have been raided and there are 120 dogs that are now flooding the shelters.

Now, the adoption is back on the table. Mark and I are visiting the shelters today.

Also, Ken & Walt's blogs have made me want a puppy

Oh well, we will see what happens.
